The J.B.Petit High School for Girls announced the JB Building Excellence redevelopment project on March 16, 2016, at the Birla Auditorium, Mumbai. The new structure, named The Shirin Darasha Memorial Block, honours the legacy of the school’s esteemed late Principal.
Demolition of the old building took place on March 8, 2022, and construction of the new building is currently underway. Once finished, the building will house the Primary Section, Classes XI and XII, three science laboratories, multipurpose spaces, and a terrace.
At the time of launch, the project’s estimated cost was approximately ₹20 crores.
The alumni community played a key role during the project’s early stages by supporting fundraising efforts, helping generate a significant corpus, with several contributors choosing to remain anonymous.
